- "And all the Tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is YaHuWaH's: it is holy unto YaHuWaH."
The Tenth Of All Your Increase Is YaHuWaH's
Return them To HIM

Everything You Have and Are, are YaHuWaH's
THE COMMANDMENT

And all the Tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is YaHuWaH's: it is holy unto YaHuWaH.
And concerning the Tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto YaHuWaH.
At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the Tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates
When thou hast made an end of tithing all the Tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;
Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Yisra'el the Tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for YaHuWaH, even a tenth part of the Tithe.
Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto YaHuWaH of all your Tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof YaHuWaH's heave offering to Aharon the priest.
Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the Tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand
But eat them before YaHuWaH your Elohiym, in the place which YaHuWaH your Elohiym chooses, you and your son and your daughter, and your male servant and your female servant, and the Levite who is within your gates. And you shall rejoice before YaHuWaH your Elohiym in all that you put your hands to.
Thou shalt truly Tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
And thou shalt eat before YaHuWaH thy Elohiym, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the Tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear YaHuWaH thy Elohiym always.
Old Testament Tithing

And blessed be the most high Elohiym, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him Tithes of all.
And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Yisra'el brought in abundance the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the Tithe of all things brought they in abundantly.
And concerning the children of Yisra'el and Yahuwdah, that dwelt in the cities of Yahuwdah, they also brought in the Tithe of oxen and sheep, and the Tithe of holy things which were consecrated unto YaHuWaH their Elohiym, and laid them by heaps.
And the priest the son of Aharon shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take Tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the Tithe of the Tithes unto the house of our Elohiym, to the chambers, into the treasure house.
And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the Tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: for Yahuwdah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.
And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the Tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.

And if a man will at all redeem ought of his Tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.

Where To Spend The Tithe
And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your Tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks:
Then there shall be a place which YaHuWaH your Elohiym shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your Tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto YaHuWaH:
New Testament Tithing

"I fast twice in the week, I give Tithes of all that I possess".
And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take Tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
But he whose descent is not counted from them received Tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
And here men that die receive Tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth Tithes, payed Tithes in Abraham.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay Tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye Tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of Elohiym: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Biblical Tithing | Discussion

The commands to Tithe throughout Scripture are irrefutable, undeniable, and non-negotiable. Due to teachings from all ends of the religious spectrum and in between, the questions many have are:
- What is a Tithe?,
- When should it be given?
- Who should give it? Should I, should you? and,
- To Who should it be given?
The answers, fortunately, are and have always been in Scripture for those who seek divine answers; for those who would refuse to make the arm of flesh their strength
The Answers:
- What is Tithe and how much is it?
-
Tithe means “a tenth.” In the Torah, Tithe is the giving of a tenth (10%) of all your BEST increase (gross income) as an offering to YaHuWaH, as He commands us.
And concerning the Tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto YaHuWaH".
And all the Tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is YaHuWaH's: it is holy unto YaHuWaH.
- When Should the Tithe Be Returned?
-
(I) Annual Tithe, and
(II) Triennial Tithe - Who Should Return the Tithe? You?, Me? Yahuwdiym (Jews)?
- "The Children of Yashar'el"
- To Who should the Tithe Be Given?
-
- The Annual or reguar Tithe is for Your Good Self and your Family, for spending during the Annual Feasts. Nothing of it must be left, though. If it is in excess of what your family can consume, the balance must be given away to Widows, Orphans, Strangers, etc. During the Feasts.
- Levites, Widows, Orphans, and the Stranger. Though, not expressly stated, your family must partake in the Feast for the year from the fund or store.
- To the Temple - the STOREHOUSE
From the Children of Yashar'el?
The Triennial Tithe is to be given to?:
From the Levites (Pastors, Rabbis, etc.)?:
According to the Torah (Scriptures), there are THREE Tithes; two pertaining to the “Children of Yashar'el” (all Believers) and one specifically pertaining to the “Levites” (Rabbis/Ministers/Pastors), the widows and the orphans. Regarding the Tithes of the people, there is a regular, yearly Tithe and a special THIRD-YEAR Tithe. Contrastingly, the “Levites” only offer their Tithe on the THIRD YEAR or Triennially.

The yearly regular Tithe is to be used BY YOU and YOUR FAMILY to rejoice and celebrate before YaHuWaH during His Feasts where He has chosen to “place His name" (Yerushalayim, back then) and for good works. The special third-year Tithe is “stored up” (saved) and then given to the “Levites,” as well as orphans and widows and even strangers in bulk (charity). With the regular Tithe, only the "Levite" living in your house, compound or premises or, let's extend it, in your neighborhood, should benefit. But the Third-year Tithe, "saved up over the year", is carried in bulk to the 'Temple' and handed over to them as a group. The Levite who receives it, takes 10% of the bulk and hands it to their 'Leader', 'the Priest' say, as their Tithe which the Bible calls the 'Heave Offering'.
In the "Third-year" Tithe, the 'Levites' are priority. Still, orphans and widows must be provided for also. The 'Levites' are then able to offer their Tithe from the Tithes of the people. The Priest (Leader) receives it from the 'Levite' who sends it all to the Temple Treasury, referred to as the “storehouse” in Mal'akiy. The Tithe returned by the Levites, religious Workers, is called the 'Heave Offering'.
While your Tithe funds are in your store, you can even BORROW against your Tithe if your financial situation becomes more difficult than foreseen. But, you must repay it with interest. You must put it back and add "a fifth" to it. The cost of this loan is fixed at 20% of the amount borrowed - a 'fifth'. This therefore teaches us proper money management, while discouraging borrowing.

Surprised? No doubt, this scriptural Tithe is probably very different than the “Tithe” many of us have been taught over the years! A Tithe from the people given directly to the “Temple” (Church/Synagogue/Congregation) is not scriptural. YaHuWaH's intention was to involve us in the joy of giving and put the responsibility on our shoulders to see that our Tithes are properly utilized and dispersed. The responsibility for this is not upon the Church. You are to be in control of your Tithe, not the Church or Pastor!
Another reason for this, we believe is that you can no longer hide behind lack of money for failing to attend or participate in the Annual Feasts. "None shall appear before me empty-handed", says YaHuWaH.
Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty
“Three times a year all your males appear before YaHuWaH your Elohiym in the place which He chooses: at the Festival of Unleavened Bread, and at the Festival of Weeks, and at the Festival of Booths. And none should appear before YaHuWaH empty-handed,
Since the death and resurrection of YaHuWshuaH, and the destruction of the Temple which was an integral part of these “Holy Convocations (Feasts)”, the requirement to attend these Feasts in Yerushalayim weakened. We now celebrate them wherever we are as the "spiritual Temple" is even within us by the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit). The Bible asserts that 'you are the temple of the Ruach haQodesh'.
Know ye not that ye are the Temple of Elohiym, and that the Ruach Elohiym dwells in you?
If any man defile the Temple of Elohiym, him shall Elohiym destroy; for the Temple of Elohiym is holy, which Temple ye are.
Third-Year Tithe
And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee. {28} At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the Tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates: {29} And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that YaHuWaH thy Elohiym may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
When thou hast made an end of tithing all the Tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled; {13} Then thou shalt say before YaHuWaH thy Elohiym, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy Commandments, neither have I forgotten them:

Although giving can be done freely anytime, every third year we are required by the Torah to save up a tenth (10%) of that year's BEST increase (income) and give it to the Levites (Minister/Pastor/Rabbi), the widows, orphans and strangers (charity). From this Tithe, the Levites, widows and orphans are to Tithe a tenth (10%) and give it to the Priest and into the STOREHOUSE of the Temple.
This is in stark contrast to the “traditional” teachings of the Tithe, even commonly taught among the Messianic community, that a tenth of our increase is to be given to the Levite (Minister/Pastor/Rabbi) always, often divided into weekly or monthly portions. Many teach that the STOREHOUSE (Congregation/Synagogue/Church) is to receive these Tithes directly from the Believer, from which the “Levite” is given a portion (salary). This is UNSCRIPTURAL, patently against the teachings of the Bible.
Tithe's Ministerial Treasury

And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our Elohiym; and the Tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the Tithes in all the cities of our tillage. {38} And the priest the son of Aharon shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take Tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the Tithe of the Tithes unto the house of our Elohiym, to the chambers, into the treasure house. {39} For the children of Yisra'el and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the Sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our Elohiym.
The “Storehouse” of Mal'akiy 3, so often mentioned regarding our Tithes, is clearly revealed above. The STOREHOUSE is where the "Tithe of the Tithes" is kept for the Priest and all those who labor in the Temple (Workers). Many have taught that the Storehouse is actually embodied in the LEVITE (Pastor, teacher, minister, rabbi) and that all our Tithes should go directly to them. Scripture, as seen, does not teach this.
Once in Scripture was the Tithe given by a Believer directly to the Priest. This was when Abraham gave Melchizedek his Tithe. This was way before the development of the Priesthood and the Commandments as seen above, concerning our administration of the Tithe.

Moreover, it is in Deuteronomy 14, verse 29 that we see a DIRECT connection between our THIRD-YEAR TITHE and YaHuWaH's blessing detailed in Mal'akiy 3:9-12.
And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that YaHuWaH thy Elohiym may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
This is strong evidence that Mal'akiy chapter 3, the blessings and curses therein, specifically relates to the Third-year tithe, and not the yearly or regular Tithes which do not go to the Storehouse.
Will a man rob Elohiym? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In Tithes and offerings. {9} Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. {10} Bring ye all the Tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith YaHuWaH of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. {11} And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith YaHuWaH of hosts. {12} And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith YaHuWaH of hosts.
End the deceit by so-called shepherds who are wolves in sheep's clothing! Your blessings from tithing according to the Bible, which is intricately connected with YaHuWaH's Feasts, comes from YaHuWaH himself! A special "Prayer Cloth" or some gimmickry will not contain your blessing. You will never be cursed by not giving from your Tithe to this or that ministry, only by neglecting YaHuWaH's express commands as detailed above. 'Ministries' may be funded from Offerings.

Your Triennial Tithe, and its Heave portion is designed to provide full support for Ministers. There lies your blessings from YaHuWaH Himself.
YaHuWshuaH answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures (Torah), nor the power of Elohiym.
As for the shepherds who ROB YaHuWaH by stealing your Tithes using guilt, fear, promises of great prosperity and twisting of scripture, they will get their due reward soon enough. The TRUTH is now with you! Now you have understanding of scriptural tithing. Begin to Tithe as YaHuWaH has commanded us and you will see those Gates of Heaven open up.
May we be mindful that this world is a fallen and sinful world with the Evil One reigning over it and that the best blessings from YaHuWaH are not always monetary or "more worldly stuff," but much deeper. Be aware of it and receive His blessings as He bestows.
Elohiym has not changed; the tithe is still to be used for the support of the Ministry.
To promote the assembling of the people for religious service, as well as to provide for the poor, a second tithe of all the increase was required. Concerning the first tithe, YaHuWaH had declared, "I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel." But in regard to the second he commanded, "Thou shalt eat before YaHuWaH thy Elohiym, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear YaHuWaH thy Elohiym always." This tithe, or its equivalent in money, they were for two years to bring to the place where the Sanctuary was established. After presenting a thank-offering to Elohiym, and a specified portion to the priest, the offerers were to use the remainder for a religious feast, in which the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow should participate. Thus provision was made for the thank-offerings and Feasts at the yearly festivals, and the people were drawn to the society of the priests and Levites that they might receive instruction and encouragement in the service of Elohiym. Every third year, however, this second tithe was to be used at home, in entertaining the Levite and the poor, as Mosheh said, "That they may eat within thy gates, and be filled." This tithe would provide a fund for the uses of charity and hospitality."
Offerings Are Apart From The Tithe

This page is not intended to deal with the subject of Offerings. But it is only appropriate to make some comments on the subject.
Offerings are totally apart from Tithes. Your offerings should at least match your Tithe in quantum. This fund is fully available to you to provide support for any of YaHuWaH's cause(s), as you are led by His Ruach (Spirit). You are not to be dictated to by any 'Man of Elohiym' as to how you are to use the funds YaHuWaH entrusted to you. You are fully responsible for every dime, time and talent bestowed upon you. You alone will account to HIM for every penny.
All that we do is to be done willingly. We are to bring our offerings with joy and gratitude, saying as we present them, Of Thine own we freely give Thee. The most costly service we can render is but meager compared to the gift of Elohiym to our world. Mashiach is a gift every day. Elohiym gave Him to the world, and He graciously takes the gifts entrusted to His human agents for the advancement of His work in the world. Thus we show that we recognize and acknowledge that every thing belongs to Elohiym, absolutely and entirely.
The offering from the heart that loves, Elohiym delights to honor, giving it highest efficiency in service for Him. If we have given our hearts to YaHuWshuaH, we also shall bring our gifts to Him. Our gold and silver, our most precious earthly possessions, our highest mental and spiritual endowments, will be freely devoted to Him who loved us, and gave Himself for us.
Come to YaHuWaH with hearts overflowing with thankfulness for past and present mercies, and manifest your appreciation of Elohiym's bounties by bringing to Him your thank offerings, your freewill offerings, and your trespass offerings."
Yet some refused to be converted. They were not willing to walk in Elohiym's way, and when, in order that the work of Elohiym might be advanced, calls were made for freewill offerings, some clung selfishly to their earthly possessions. These covetous ones became separated from the company of believers."
"It is a deplorable fact that sacred and eternal considerations do not have power to open the hearts of the professed followers of Mashiach to make freewill offerings to sustain the gospel as the temptation of feasting and general merriment."
The mighty shaking has commenced, and is going on, and all will be shaken out who are not willing to take a bold and unyielding stand, and sacrifice for Elohiym and His cause. The Angel said, "Think ye He will compel any to sacrifice and give up their possessions? No! no! It must be a freewill offering. It will take all to buy the field."
Is it I, Me? Who?

There is an uproar among 'church-goers', even among genuine Natsariym. And it is this: "Is Tithe-paying for me?". This side of the Cross, and living thousands of Kilometers removed from 'Jerusalem, Israel', should I be 'paying' Tithes?
First off, there is a fundamental misunderstanding here that should be addressed before the question of 'who'. And it is in itself, a major question that begs an answer.
The question is: "Is Tithe to be 'paid' or is it to be 'returned'?"
Thus says YaHuWaH:
And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is YaHuWaH's: it is holy unto YaHuWaH.
The Tithe does not belong to me. It does not belong to you. How then can you 'pay' Him with what belongs to Him? You can only 'return' to YaHuWaH what belongs to Him. He is pleading with us to 'return' His belonging. It was never ours and will never be ours. Witholding it is considered 'robbery'!
Will a man rob Elohiym? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, ...
Why does YaHuWaH claim ownership of every tenth of our increase? Where did the 'increase' come from?
But thou shalt remember YaHuWaH thy Elohiym: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, ...
He gave you everything. And then He tells you that the first 10% is not yours but His. And that He wants you to preserve it for your use during His Feasts. During the Feast, you alone may not be able to finish the resource. Share it with the needy of all types. That way, everyone will be provided for during the Feasts. And all will glorify Him. He promised that "no one will come to His Feasts empty-handed". He is relying on you to make sure of that. What happens when you fail to comply? Surely, you can imagine the consequences!
We have established that the Tithe is a 'thing' to be 'returned' to Elohiym, its Owner. But then, the second question remains pending. Question is, 'who should return the Tithe?' We may now extend this question further. "Who on earth has 'power' in themselves to get 'wealth'"? Do you? Do I? I believe that none of us has. And if we have been 'given' power to get the income or the increase that we call our own, the Author of the 'power' has legitimate claim if He wills, don't you think?
Every human being in all the Earth owes YaHuWaH His Tithe. Every one of us is expected to return the Tithe or be branded by the Court of Heaven as "Robbers"!
When we say "every human being" is obligated to return the Tithe, we say so because we all are YaHuWaH's by creation and redemption. And we are all destined for the eternal kingdom by His predestination. Though many of us have decided, and are deciding against His predestining us, it does not take away responsibility from any. Default makes it robbery, and makes us "Robbers"! Every Natsariym, or follower of YaHuWshuaH is "Yashar'el". The Law applies to all Yashar'el. Even you.
Now there is another question that may legitimately be asked. And that is, "How do humans outside of Yerushalayim handle the Tithe"? Obviously, here too, the ground is level. There is no Temple in Yerushalayim and certainly, none any where else on Earth. Whether you are Yahuwdiy or Goiym (Gentiles), we all have the same circumstances and facilities for handling the Tithe. There are no levitical Priests, only Rabbis, Pastors, Popes, etc. There are Synagogues, Churches, Mosques, and so on. Regardless of where we may be, the Tithe is YaHuWaH's. You must return it.
Recognizing that we are given the Tithe for the following reasons:
- To ensure we will richly and joyfully celebrate the Feasts every year. Our occasional economic lows and highs must not stymie our joy in YaHuWaH's presence during the three appearances in His presence: Passover, Pentecost and Sukkoth.
- To ensure that the Stranger and Widows and orphans in and around us partake of the Feasts fully without feeling the effect of their own financial or social circumstances.
- The Levites and Priests, whoever they happen to be, will have resources to Tithe also. Every third year, they are replenished. During this third year, you feast with it, you and your family; share the remainder among the "levites", 'widows', 'strangers', and 'orphans'. Nothing of it must be left unused.
None of us is removed from the factors above. We have the Feasts, Neighbors, Orphans, Widows and religious leaders. We are duty-bound. None is exempted.
Another question arises. We know who the Widow, Orphan, Stranger is. But who is the "Levite"? 'Who qualifies as the "Levite" today'? You decide. When you decided what 'religion', what 'denomination', you subscribe to, you also decided rightly or wrongly, who your 'Levite' is.
This is one of those life and death decisions we make; deciding our religion or our denomination. The Bible has given us more than ample information to enable us make the right decisions all the time, without fail. This website has also provided you with all that you need to make the right decisions also. We struggle only because, our biases, antecedents, backgrounds, upbringing, education, environments come between us and our Elohiym. If we love our Elohiym, none of these factors can come between Him and us. None.
In Tithing as in everything, we must not be compelled or coerced into complying. It must be of our freewill. Elohiym never compels us to do anything. The choice is and always remains yours, mine.
All that we do is to be done willingly. ..., saying as we present them, Of Thine own we freely give Thee. ... If we have given our hearts to YaHuWshuaH, we also shall bring ...
"It is a deplorable fact that sacred and eternal considerations do not have power to open the hearts of the professed followers of Mashiach to make freewill offerings to sustain the gospel as the temptation of feasting and general merriment."
